Operation Once in a Lifetime received a request from Spc.VanDyke who was severely injured by a 25mm round in Iraq.

Ever Since he was a child, he has always wanted to see the shuttle launch. Thanks to the Operation Once in a Lifetime and the support of all those that support us, we made this dream come true.

Spc. VanDyke was contacted by Rex Walheim (the pilot of the last shuttle launch, Atlantis) and former Astronaut Richard Searfoss to inform Spc. VanDyke that he was going to view the launch with his family at Nasa’s VIP Viewing Center. Operation Once in a Lifetime was also able to get Spc. VanDyke and his family a 4 night stay at a Disney Resort and tickets to Disney.
